If you use a Fluke meter to test diodes and it's selector switch
is set to the diode symbol, I _think_ it will read volts, not
ohms. Thus if you connect the leads to forward bias the diode, it
should read around 8.5V, according to Clare. Reverse bias
connection would read "OL" (not 100% sure here, either!).
