It was a near miss, as opposed to a far miss.

I rode in the cockpit of the Anheuser-Busch Lockheed Jetstar once as 
it went barreling through my practice area at 4000 ft with the pilots 
totally engaged in playing with the fuel computer.  They didn't even 
look outside for several minutes as I was turning whiter than a 
sheet, realizing that's where I practice stalls and steep turns and 
stuff.  Can't forget about those IFR guys on approach if you're VFR 
out in the boonies.
