The F4U Corsair throttle has a safety wire across the last 3/8 inch
of throttle travel, marked "War Emergency Power". Shove the throttle
all the way forward, break the wire, and it kicks in a water
injection system that is "for combat use only" and assists in
preventing detonation.
I remember in the 70's on TV in Albuquerque those aftermarket water
injection systems were all the rage. Wonder if that had to do with
high altitude and the low octane fuel they use there to prevent vapor lock.
