CorvAircraft> 5th bearing??

Hi guys,
Does anyone know if William has come up with a workable solution for a fifth
bearing yet?
I have had a plan for one for a while and have come across something that
will make it a lot simpler to manufacture.
Since I am fitting a 3300 Jabiru motor to a Whisper motor glider which will
be fitted with an Airmaster electric prop (which comes with it's own adapter
hub), the standard Jabiru hub is now redundant.
What I am planning on is mounting a puck to the end of the crank that will
hold the centre section of a clutch plate. Over this I will mount a hub that
holds two bearings that will absorb thrust as well as gyroscopic loads.
Through this will be a short shaft splined on one end to slip into the
centre of the clutch plate and on the other side it will emulate the end of
a Jabiru crank. The hub simply bolts to this with six 3/8 UNF allen caps.
I had plans of machining the shaft from a bar the size of the hub which
would have complicated the fitting of the bearings a bit. This way I might
be able to do a bearing change without removing the bearing hub at all.
It needs a little more thought but I think I am onto something that is a
step in the right direction. It will be nice to fly without that concern way
back in my mind of the crank snapping even though it will be nitrided.
Comments?
