Don, What I should have said is that there is no evidence that
tortional vibration was responsible for any of the cranks breaking therefore
we should concentrate more on eliminating the bending forces on the crank,
ie: thrust and gyroscopic. After all, that is what broke Mark L's crank
wasn't it? At least that is what all the experts opinions were. Everybody is
bolting the prop directly to the crank without any form of damping (on the
prop end of the crank anyway) so as I said, any damping gained from the
clutch setup can only be a good thing.
