CorvAircraft> fuel system pressure switch

Hello all:

I have yet another question about the fuel systems and it involves personal risk assessment. I am very familiar with the recommended 601XL fuel system and consider it a viable well thought out system. The system has an oil pressure switch which automatically turns off the facet fuel pump when the pressure drops (when the engine stops)

In my other life I do risk assessment and this sometimes clouds my judgment. So I am trying to assess and balance 2 risks. One is the risk of a post crash fire where the pilot is unconscious or can't reach the still working fuel pump switch ( this risk could be reduced by the pressure switch), vs the scenario where the more complicated fuel system fails ( the pressure switch turns off the fuel pumps when it shouldn't and causes a problem).

Here is where personal judgment and experience confounds the decision. I have experienced and engine out. Don't want to do it have again. I have never experience a post crash fire, or been severely burned so I have hard time comparing to two. I guess the issue is, which is more likely. In the end, if the risks are equal, I would vote for the simpler, lighter system.

How many of you are running the oil pressure off switch set up? Any problems with it? Has it help anyone? Has it ever failed and caused and engine out? Has it caused any starting issues?

thanks for your help. phill
