CorvAircraft> variable valve timing on corvair?

I have 1991 daihatsu charade with a 3cyl 993cc engine and yes it has a 
balance shaft gear driven off the crank. 41 mpg, 208000 miles on the 
odometer just had to tell ya. You can feel the oscillations particularly 
at low idle, it smoothes out as you give it gas.
