A great big THANK YOU goes out to all those who participated in the TBPH Club Volcano meeting last week.  The Board very much appreciates all those who came out to support the club  and we will discuss everything brought up at the next Fruitcakes Advisory Board Meeting. Thanks again! 

AUGUST 30th - 5th Wednesday Meeting 
There's a meeting this Wednesday night, August 30th at Storman's.  Hope to see everyone there!!!!! (Note: Be sure to check your e-mails over the next couple of days for the possibility of cancellation due to Ernesto.  Currently, however, it looks like Ernesto's path is going to be far enough to the east of us that our meeting will go on as planned - Parrot Head Karma?)


So if we do have this meeting it is a "don't miss" event, as we're going country!   Get ready for Jerry Jeff Walker's appearance at this year's Meeting of the Minds with Cowboy Boots & Bathing Suits.  Wear your best outfit of cowboy boots and/or bathing suits and compete for prizes!  We'll also dust off our old CD's and play the songs that Jerry Jeff helped inspire in the country side of Buffett's music.

Hello friends!  In addition to Cowboy Boots and Bathing Suits make sure you check out all the exciting new apparel and accessories at the Fins to the Left Store after our most Fabulous Parrot Head Fashion Show during the meeting on August 30th.  We will have some members strutting their stuff showing off all the new goodies available, including beach bags, hand bags, men's & women's tank tops, visors and some kiddie shirts, just to name a few.  We also have some Bar Stroll and Memorial Day Party shirts available if you missed out the first go 'round ($7 each), and if you have any suggestions of items we should offer at the store just shoot an e-mail to store manager Charlie Rose at phcharlierose at yahoo.com.

TBPH CLUB 12th Birthday Bash!!!!!!!!!! 
It's only TWO WEEKS AWAY!!!!  Mark your calendars for the weekend of September 8th-10th for YOUR annual birthday party at the Holiday Inn Harbourside and Jimmy Guana's.  The reservation lines are open and room rates are only $79 - $199!  Be sure to mention that you are with the Tampa Bay Parrot Head Club in order to obtain these rates.  Call them at 727-595-9484.  Patrick Foy and the Conch Critters, Connie and the DeLie'ed Parrots and FlipFlop Dave Fogler will be providing the entertainment for the weekend. 

Stick around on Sunday for Bucs Football at Jimmy Guana's!  We will continue the beer specials and have $3.00 Bloody Mary's in the Jimmy bar and the Wahoo bar only.  There will also be a free "munchie" buffet for Parrot Heads only from 1-4.  What better way to wind up this special weekend than to watch the first game of the season with your Parrot Head friends?

Beach Clean-up & PARTY -- It's Time to Cleeeeeeeeeeeean the Beaches!!!
MARK THE DATE -- Saturday, September 16th, is The Florida Coastal Cleanup.  Each year on the 3rd Saturday in September, Keep Hillsborough County Beautiful, Inc. (a nonprofit organization) coordinates the Cleanup locally.  This event is part of the International Coastal Cleanup, which is coordinated by the Ocean Conservancy.  This is the largest marine-related Cleanup in the world!  Last year more than 2,400 volunteers collected more than 56,000 pounds of trash along our local beaches and waterways.  This is a "t-shirt event."  There will be sign-up sheets at the meetings.  If you can't make the meetings, please contact David, our Chief Officer of Community Events by e-mail - dolphin96 at verizon.net or phone 727-543-6548 or 727-734-8263 to sign up.  This is a great opportunity for anyone who needs community service hours to acquire those hours and to help leave the world a little better than we found it. 
 
As always we will meet in the parking lot of Whiskey Joe's (south on Rocky Point Road on the east end of the Courtney Campbell Causeway) at 9:30 a.m. and hit the beaches around 10:00.  Bring gloves and a hat and wear good shoes!  The post party details are in the works but you can be assured the post party will be awesome as usual.

The TBPH Club Havana Daydreaming Meeting
Bring Your Ideas Tampa Bay Parrot Heads!!  The 2006 Annual TBPH Club Havana Daydreaming meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 27th, at 7PM at Storman's Palace.  This is the time for any and all ideas and suggestions for the club.  Past Havana Daydreaming meetings have resulted in numerous TBPH activities.  

Meeting of the Minds 
Registration is now CLOSED for Meeting of the Minds 2006 -- November 2nd - 5th, 2006.  For those who are registered, hotel reservations at the Southernmost can be booked at the meetings.  First priority will be given to paid members of the club and a credit card is required to reserve a room.  The deadline for reserving a room will be September 20th, or "once they are all gone," whichever comes first!  Also, please be aware that TBPH Club Meeting of the Minds shirts are ready for preordering.  Orders will be taken at the next few meetings.  The shirts are $15 each and must be ordered no later than the September 30th meeting.  No shirts can be printed after that date, so be sure to get yours ordered NOW!! Meeting of the Minds 2006 - King or Queen of Somewhere Hot!  Calling all Tampa Bay Parrot Heads!  The Meeting of the Minds King or Queen of Somewhere Hot candidates have been picked and Tampa Bay Parrot Head's own Bonnie Busch is one of the candidates for Queen of Somewhere Hot!!  It is now up to the candidates to campaign for votes.  How is a winner chosen??? Well, this is a totally "bribe initiated" election.  Everything that you would consider to be against the rules of a normal election is thrown out the door, and the candidates need to get you to contribute hard earned dollars to their cause.  Each dollar the candidate receives equals one vote.  All monies are donated to charities.  Complete information about the contest and where the monies will be donated can be found at web site below. TBPH Club Holiday Party 
The TBPH Club Annual Holiday Party is in the works!!  Mark your calendars for Saturday, December 9th , 7:30 to midnight, at the Treasure Island Community Center.  Steel of the Night will be playing.  BYOB, a dish to share and either a canned/ nonperishable food item, unwrapped child’s gift, or a pet gift for our charity.  20 rooms have been reserved at the Island Inn Beach Resort.  The room rates are only $75.00 - $96.00!  Call 727-367-1926 and ask for the Parrot Head rate.  Rooms will be available at this rate until 11/25/06!

2007 Tampa Bay PHC CRUISE!!!!!!!!!
Make no mistaica - we're going to Jamaica!  Cruise with the Tampa Bay Parrot Heads April 28, 2007 on Carnival's Imagination.  The ship leaves for a 5-night cruise from the Port of Miami on Saturday, April 28th and returns on Thursday, May 3rd.  The first stop is Grand Cayman, the second stop is Ocho Rios Jamaica (yes, there is a Margaritaville there!).  The cost of the cruise including port charges and tax is $449.11 for an inside cabin and $509.11 for an outside cabin.  A $50 deposit per person is due as soon as possible, a payment of $150 is due in December and the balance is due by February 25th.  All deposits and money paid is fully refundable up to 2/25. Elections for our four offices – Captain, First Mate, Yeoman and Purser, are coming up soon.  More info coming if you are interested.  All current officers with the exception of Yeoman will be running again.

The TBPH Club's very own Joe Nolfo has become a published author!
