Helloooooooooooooooooooooo Tampa Bay Parrot Heads! 

The TBPH Club 12th Birthday Party was a HUGE SUCCESS.  Thanks to all who came out to support the club and especially to all the volunteers who worked countless hours to put everything together. We would also like to send out a resounding THANK YOU to all of the donors and buyers from the silent auction!  We raised over $2,000 for Save Our Seabirds! The new display board from Lee Fox at SOS will be at the meeting Wednesday night so that you can see the finished osprey mew and some of the residents of the sanctuary.  We also want to thank our good friends at the Holiday Inn Harboside and Jimmy Guana’s for the great job they did.  And finally it was so great to have our dear friend Capt. Tony, his wife Marty and youngest son (of 13) T.J. join us for this wonderful occasion.  

ALSO, A VERY HUGE THANK YOU goes out to all those brave volunteers who came out to help the TBPH Club Cleeeeeeeeeeeean the Beaches on Saturday.  It was a great time and everyone did an AWESOME job!!!  Thank you for helping keep Tampa Bay beautiful!!!  Thanks also go out to our friends at QUAKER STEAK & LUBE for the great party afterwards.

We are going to put all of our old photos on the web site.  To do this we need to scan them and put them on CDs.  There are a lot of photos and we could use your help.  If you can help scan some photos,  please see Heidi Ho at the meeting Wednesday night.

Just a heads-up, if you are a member of our club (and your dues are paid up-to-date) you will be getting the following letter in the mail at the end of this week: 
“As you may have heard by now Jimmy Buffett & The Coral Reefer Band will be coming to town on Thursday, November 16th .  They will be playing again at the Ford Amphitheater at the Fairgrounds.  Reserved tickets will be $126." 
  
ABOUT THE TICKETS . . . For those who do not know, the TBPH Clubs are allotted 300 tickets from National Parrot Heads in Paradise (PHiP).  These must be allocated to all clubs in our area that are eligible.  Club members are able to purchase these tickets and  we offer them to club members based on their volunteering since the last concert and availability of tiks based on requests.  HOWEVER, WITH THAT SAID – SINCE WE HAVE TO SHARE THESE TIKS WITH OTHER CLUBS AND THERE ARE ONLY 2 CONCERTS IN FLORIDA - IF YOU WANT TO MAKE SURE YOU GO TO THE CONCERT – BUY A TICKET FROM TICKETMASTER WHEN THEY GO ON SALE. 
  
If you have volunteered since the last concert and would like to apply for a ticket, please write out the volunteer work you have performed and mail it to us at: TBPH Club Ticket Requests, 1101 Oxbridge Dr., Lutz, FL  33549, postmarked by no later than October 6, 2006.  Please include what community events you have participated in and any other volunteer work you have done for the club.  Our good friend Jimmy Hannigan and Coastal Wine & Spirits will be donating a special Capt. Morgan Concert Package to the most “creative” entry.   
  
Please send in your request and a check for the number of tickets you are requesting (2 max – per member).  As stated above, the price of each tik is $126 each and there is no guarantee you are going to get a ticket.  Please make sure you put your name and phone numbers on your request.  Also, you must be a member in good standing to get tiks.  In other words, your dues must be paid.  Make checks payable to Tampa Bay Parrot Head Club.  We will have information on our Pre Concert Parties soon!” 
  
The TBPH Club Havana Daydreaming Meeting
Bring Your Ideas Tampa Bay Parrot Heads!!  The 2006 Annual TBPH Club Havana Daydreaming meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 27th, at 7PM at Storman's Palace.  This is the time for any and all ideas and suggestions for the club.  Past Havana Daydreaming meetings have resulted in numerous TBPH activities.

Meeting of the Minds 
Registration is now CLOSED for Meeting of the Minds 2006 -- November 2nd - 5th, 2006.  For those who are registered, hotel reservations at the Southernmost can be booked at the meetings.  First priority will be given to paid members of the club and a credit card is required to reserve a room. The deadline for reserving a room will be September 20th, or "once they are all gone," whichever comes first!  Also, please be aware that TBPH Club Meeting of the Minds shirts are ready for preordering.  Orders will be taken at the next few meetings.  The shirts are $15 each and must be ordered no later than the September 30th meeting.  No shirts can be printed after that date, so be sure to get yours ordered NOW!! Meeting of the Minds 2006 - King or Queen of Somewhere Hot!  
Calling all Tampa Bay Parrot Heads!  The Meeting of the Minds King or Queen of Somewhere Hot candidates have been picked and Tampa Bay Parrot Head's own Bonnie Busch is one of the candidates for Queen of Somewhere Hot!!  It is now up to the candidates to campaign for votes.  How is a winner chosen??? Well, this is a totally "bribe initiated" election.  Everything that you would consider to be against the rules of a normal election is thrown out the door, and the candidates need to get you to contribute hard earned dollars to their cause.  Each dollar the candidate receives equals one vote.  All monies are donated to charities.  Complete information about the contest and where the monies will be donated can be found at web site below. TBPH Club Holiday Party 
The TBPH Club Annual Holiday Party is in the works!!  Mark your calendars for Saturday, December 9th , 7:30 to midnight, at the Treasure Island Community Center.  Steel of the Night will be playing.  BYOB, a dish to share and either a canned/ nonperishable food item, unwrapped child’s gift, or a pet gift for our charity.  20 rooms have been reserved at the Island Inn Beach Resort.  The room rates are only $75.00 - $96.00!  Call 727-367-1926 and ask for the Parrot Head rate.  Rooms will be available at this rate until 11/25/06!

2007 Tampa Bay PHC CRUISE!!!!!!!!!
Make no mistaica - we're going to Jamaica!  Cruise with the Tampa Bay Parrot Heads April 28, 2007 on Carnival's Imagination.  The ship leaves for a 5-night cruise from the Port of Miami on Saturday, April 28th and returns on Thursday, May 3rd.  The first stop is Grand Cayman, the second stop is Ocho Rios Jamaica (yes, there is a Margaritaville there!).  The cost of the cruise including port charges and tax is $449.11 for an inside cabin and $509.11 for an outside cabin.  A $50 deposit per person is due as soon as possible, a payment of $150 is due in December and the balance is due by February 25th.  All deposits and money paid is fully refundable up to 2/25.  Call For Cruise Reservations at 813-854-5522 or 727-784-2110 to make your reservations.  Transportation to Miami is being planned at a separate cost.  The cruise is filling up fast! Elections for our four offices – Captain, First Mate, Yeoman and Purser, are coming up soon.  You will be getting a letter soon from Carolyn and Terry, our Chief Officers of Elections.
