HELLOOOOOOOO, TAMPA BAY PARROT HEADS!!! 

 

JOIN US FOR OUR RED, WHITE, AND BLUE MEETING AT THE 420 -- THIS TUESDAY JULY 3RD. Being our 4th of July holiday, we will be having a special contest and prizes for the BEST PATRIOTIC PARROT HEAD RED, WHITE, AND BLUE OUTFIT!  

Also at this meeting we will take pre-orders for shirts for two of the events you will be reading about a little farther down. 


 


BEACH CLEAN UP OF PARROT HEAD ISLAND

Our next clean up of Parrot Head Island is scheduled for SATURDAY July 14th, with a party to follow at the Dogwater Café near Nursery & US 19 in Clearwater.  As always, we will meet in the big parking lot south on Rocky Point Road on the east end of the Courtney Campbell Causeway at 9:00 and hit the beaches about 9:30. Bring gloves and a hat and wear good shoes! This effort not only beautifies the coastline and community, but also helps to reduce the incidence of birds and marine wildlife ingesting or becoming entangled in marine debris. This is also an opportunity to get credit for Community Service.  There will be signup sheets at the meeting TUESDAY. AUGUST 4TH BAR STROLL !!!  BAR STROLL !!! 

DETAILS ARE all set for the First Ever Tampa Bay Parrot Heads "Last Man Standing" Triathlon/Bar Stroll/Scavenger Hunt. This event is like no other bar stroll we've ever attempted!!  We will begin at NOON!!!  Yes, HIGH NOON ...by trolley ... We will be staying at the Trail's End Motel, 11500 Gulf Boulevard on Treasure Island, just south of the bridge at John's Pass. Rooms start at $62 and go up to $116 per night when you ask for the Parrot Head rate. Call them at 727-360-5541 and you can check them out at www.trailsendmotel.info 
OUR DAY WILL TAKE US THROUGH mini-golf, shuffleboard and an obstacle course like no other ! These activities will lead us to the real highlight of the day ... hanging around the pool at our Old Florida Style Beach Motel sharing the items we have brought with us for the ultimate Tampa Bay Parrot Head competition:  our own ParrothEd's legendary Scavenger Hunt! If you've never experienced one of these, you are in for a real treat, it's a whole other world of scavenger hunts.  You will have two weeks plus the activities of the Triathlon (hint hint) to prepare and gather your items, always remembering that creativity counts! 

The Last Man Standing Triathlon shirts will ONLY be available to reserve at the July 3 meeting, tomorrow night.  Price per shirt is $20 at the Fins To The Left Store. There will be a limited number made and only if we have any left after reservations are made, will you be able to purchase them at the event. So in order to insure you get yours, don't forget to get on the list!!   







 WaZoo- LATE NIGHT CLEAN UP AT LOWRY PARK ZOO

Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo's 12th annual WaZoo celebration is a "tropical taste explosion" with beverage samplings from breweries worldwide and a wine garden. The event is from 7:30 to 10:30 P.M.  Parrot Head volunteers get to participate for free - but YOU HAVE TO WORK THE LATE NIGHT CLEAN UP AFTER THE WAZOO IS OVER SO THE ZOO IS READY FOR THE NEXT DAY.Expect to be there until about 1AM. Only 20 volunteers are needed, so if this event is FOR YOU, please sign up at the meetings... CALLING ALL PARROT HEADS !! WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

We have made many friends over the 13+ years in the Tampa Bay Parrot Head Club. Now, as we prepare for our 13th Burthday and Harry's retirement as our Captain, we want to locate Parrot Heads who are former members to make it the BEST PARTY ever!! Rachel is putting together a group to do a phone tree to contact past members. If you are interested in helping out with this, please see her at a meeting or email her at gravitynvrholdme at aol.com.


Speaking of our 13th Birthday Party, the date is set for Sept 7 & 8 at the Holiday Inn Harbourside.  It's going to be a great event, celebrating 13 years of Lovely Cruises and living our lives like a song, with fantastic friends recalling unforgettable memories and creating many wonderful new ones. We have John Frinzi playing Friday night, Flip-Flop Dave of Passport Beach Music playing at the pool on Saturday,  Jack Mosley and Patrick Foy & The Conch Critters playing Saturday night. Once again the Holiday Inn Harbourside www.hiharbourside.com  and JimmyGuana's will be hosting our event, and the rooms have been released for reservations.  You can call them at 800-726-0865  We also need LOTS of volunteers for a committee to pull this shindig off. For now, just plan to get here by Friday afternoon, bring your checkbook for the Save Our Seabirds www.seabirdrehab.org  Silent Auction and the photo booth.

  
Also, starting on 7/3/07 we'll be taking pre-orders for a truly unique and once-in-a-lifetime-design t-shirt for our Birthday Bash weekend. This will be a TBPH collectible and you won't want to miss out. This design will be kept closely guarded and under wraps until the weekend of the party.    Price per t-shirt is $20 and can be paid for at the Fins To The Left store


 

PHOTO OP --CALLING ALL DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHERS !!

As Heidi and Harry sail off into the sunset, the club is looking for new photographic talent. We are hoping to share the responsibility, having at least one photographer at each event, documenting the great time had by all. Approximately 5-7 photographers can rotate.
