If you missed this meeting you missed a great night of singing, dancing and a first hand look at all the Fruitcakes Advisory Board changes and updates to the fun activities and parties that are being planned! There was so much information that it may take 15 pages of this bulletin to get it all to you! In fact, there is so much to share that I had to put in TWO Jimmy Buffett Trivia Questions!!! Commander’s Greeting








"CommandoBabe" kicked off the meeting with a Big Aloooooha and welcome to 420 Park Place. She reminded us to take care of the bar and wait staff and as always to drink responsibly.

  

NanaBabe acknowledged the staff of the Membership Table and pointed out the location of the network table and thanked our Welcome Court for doing a Great Job! She also pointed out the Fins to the Left Store and the shiny new TBPH license plates that are on sale! Also note there is a new calendar/newsletter out and will be posted on the WWW.FINSUP.COM  web site as soon as possible

NanaBabe was joined on stage by Biker Steve, who is now the First Mate! Taking Steve’s vacated spot as Member-at-Large Rep is our very own Captain Pat!! Everyone enthusiastically welcomed Pat and he proudly wore his boards throughout the meeting! Remember that our Members-at-Large are here to assist us with any comments, concerns or issues we may have. Be sure to use this resource to keep this the “Best Club in the World”!! In honor of Pat’s new responsibilities NanaBabe led us in a Teeeeam Drink!!!

                         

As you all know, Dorothy has been doing a wonderful job taking care of our Parties and Trips responsibilities in addition to her regular duties so a  Huge Teeeeeem Drink to her for her efforts. NanaBabe then introduced our NEW “Chief Officers of Special Events” Joanie and Val!!

Joanie kicked it off by announcing a new exciting approach to organizing our trips and parties! Committees will be assembled that allow us all a chance to bring our ideas and get involved in how, where, and what we do! She challenged us all to get involved and assured us that she and Val will be closely involved in insuring all our activities are the best they can be!



Some of the upcoming events that are in the planning stages are: A Bowling Night in January,  Party down in Channelside followed by a Parrot Head night at a Tampa Bay Lighting game in March, in addition to our regular events! Joanie and Val had sign up sheets available so we can all get involved! Get out and meet your fellow club members and we can all help in keeping the TBPH Club the “Best Club in the World”!!

Finally, Joanie mentioned that we will be asked to participate in a short 3-question survey very soon. Everyone is asked to please participate as this is our chance to provide valuable input to our activities!!  One last thing, for those who will be joining us at MOTM in Key West: we will be organizing a snorkel trip on Saturday morning, November 3rd from 9:00 until 12:30 … please make plans to join us and enjoy the beautiful underwater world to go along with the landlubber activities of Duval Street!

Val presented an update on the upcoming 1st Annual “Junk-in-the-Trunk” Event that will take place at Quaker Steak. This is an opportunity for all Parrot Heads to sell off some of their “yard sale” type items for a very worthwhile cause! All proceeds will benefit the “Tampa Bay Parrot Head Scholarship at the USF College of Marine Sciences"” endowment fund.  The event date is October 27th beginning at 9 am and will also serve as our pre-pre-pre-pre-concert party with music provided by Jim Lanier at 11 am,  followed by the Eric Stone Band at 2 pm.  



Finally, Joanie and Val have set up a special email address for Special Event purposes. The address is: tbphparties at verizon.net . Feel free to contact them if you want to volunteer for one of the committees or just have an idea, suggestion or a compliment. Let’s all give Joanie and Val our support in their new positions!

Community Events Update by Chief Officer of Community Events

“Big Wave” Dave!








As Dave mentioned at the last couple of meetings as well as here in the bulletin, there is a Lowry Park Zoo “Zoofari” event scheduled for November 3rd this year.  We have a few activities scheduled that day so if you would like to get involved in this great event please contact the zoo's Volunteer Coordinator directly. Mention you are representing the Tampa Bay Parrot Heads. Here is the pertinent information for this worthwhile event:



Saturday, November 3 from 7-11 p.m.
Known as one of the largest and “wildest” all-inclusive food festivals in the Tampa Bay Area, Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo invites food lovers to its 21st annual Zoofari feeding frenzy. The event features great food sampling from more than 80 restaurants, open bars, live music and the “Art Safari” wildlife art auction.

Dave also mentioned the next Beach Clean up, which will be at Davis Island on November 17th.  More information will be sent out as we get closer to this worthwhile event!

The wheels are turning for our annual holiday party scheduled for December 8th! This is a BYOB event from 7:30 to midnight. Also bring a dish to share and either a canned/non-perishable food item or unwrapped child’s or pet gift for our charity. The party will be at The Treasure Island Community Center. Rooms have been blocked off at the Trails End Motel for the 8th at a discounted Parrot Head rate. Call 727-360-5541 for reservations, this rate is good until November 15th!!








 






CommandoBabe turned the microphone over to our Captain of the Parrot Head Navy – Captain Dom for an update on the upcoming Raft-Up – Island Party at Three-Rooker Sandbar! Thanks Captain Dom for organizing this event!!



The party is Saturday October 13th with a rain-out date of October 20th.  We will have 5 hearty seafaring vessels employed to shuttle all adventurous guests to the island. There will be cheeseburgers in paradise at 2:00 so all guests are asked to bring a side dish. Organizational emails have been sent out to all the “island folk” and updates will be sent out as we get nearer to the party. As always if you have any questions please contact Captain Dom at captaindom at verizon.net . Thanks to these Captains for volunteering their time and vessels to shuttle people to and from  the island:

Charlie Rose will be retiring from her duties with the Fins-to-the-Left Store L but she assures us we will be well taken care of by our new store representatives, Bill and Sue Nichols and Joe and Karen Bukowski!!
