NanaBabe kicked off the meeting with a Big Aloooooha and welcome to 420 Park Place. She reminded us to take care of the bar and wait staff and as always to drink responsibly.

 

NanaBabe acknowledged the staff of the Membership Table and pointed out the location of the network table and thanked our Welcome Court for doing a Great Job! She also pointed out the Fins to the Left Store. Let’s show our support by purchasing some cool TBPH gear!

NanaBabe was joined on stage by our Member-at-Large Rep, Captain Pat and also our NEWEST Member-at-Large Rep, Vee!! Everyone enthusiastically welcomed Vee to her new position and she and Pat proudly wore their boards throughout the meeting! Remember that our Members-at-Large are here to assist us with any comments, concerns or issues we may have. Be sure to use this resource to keep this the “Best Club in the World”!! In honor of Vee’s new responsibilities NanaBabe led us in a Teeeeam Drink!!!



 

Thanks to Captain Dom and the Parrot Head Navy for organizing a GREAT Raft Up Island Party on Saturday! We had a great turnout and lots of fun! There is a “You Had to be There” Bulletin out for the party so be sure to check it out! Also be sure to check out all the photos that have been posted on the www.finsup.com web site!

 

  

 

Finally, we had a Havana Daydreamers meeting last Tuesday! Thanks to all those who joined us and presented ideas to make The TBPH Club “The Best Club in the World”!!

 



 






 

Parties and Trips Update by Chief Officers of Special Events

Val presented an update on the upcoming 1st Annual “Junk-in-the-Trunk” Event that will take place at Quaker Steak. This is an opportunity for all Parrot Heads to sell off some of their “yard sale” type items for a very worthwhile cause! All proceeds will benefit the “Tampa Bay Parrot Head Scholarship at the USF College of Marine Sciences"” endowment fund.  The event date is October 27th beginning at 9 am and will also serve as our pre-pre-pre-pre-concert party with music provided by Jim Lanier,  followed by the Eric Stone Band at 2 pm. Remember to bring a table and some chairs for your sale items. There will be food and drink specials and a 50/50 raffle. You can either win the 50/50 pot or two reserved seat tickets to the November 3rd Buffett concert. Also, volunteers are still needed for various functions so sign up at the welcome table if you want to help out!

 

A reminder that our annual holiday party is scheduled for December 8th! This is a BYOB event from 7:30 to midnight. Also bring a dish to share and either a canned/non-perishable food item or unwrapped child’s or pet gift for charity. The party will be at The Treasure Island Community Center. Rooms have been blocked off at the Trails End Motel for the 8th at a discounted Parrot Head rate. Call 727-360-5541 for reservations, this rate is good until November 15th!!

Connie and the DeLeid Parrots will be our entertainment!



Joanie updated us with some of the upcoming events such as The October 30th – FIFTH TUESDAY - Pre-Pre-Pre-Concert Party/MOTM Kick-Off/Halloween right here at 420 Park Place! Music provided by Pat Foy and the Conch Critters!! Don’t miss out on that! There will be a raffle for two Nov 1 Buffett concert tickets so make plans to join us wearing your best costumes! If you are attending the MOTM in Key West join us for the BIG ASS TBPH Party on Thursday, November 1st at 7:00 at Schooners Wharf! Jack Mosley will be the entertainment so don’t miss it!! Then it’s off to the Casa Marina to enjoy music from The Landsharks!!

Community Events Update by Chief Officer of Community Events

“Big Wave” Dave!








As Dave mentioned at the last couple of meetings as well as here in the bulletin, there is a Lowry Park Zoo “Zoofari” event scheduled for November 3rd.  If you would like to get involved in this great event please contact the Volunteer Coordinator directly. Mention you are representing the Tampa Bay Parrot Heads. Here is the pertinent information for this worthwhile event:



Saturday, November 3 from 7-11 p.m.
Known as one of the largest and “wildest” all-inclusive food festivals in the Tampa Bay Area, Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo invites food lovers to its 21st annual Zoofari feeding frenzy. The event features great food sampling from more than 80 restaurants, open bars, live music and the “Art Safari” wildlife art auction.

Dave also reminded us of the next Beach Clean up, which will be at Davis island On November 17th. There are sign up sheets at the meetings so please get involved and help us to do our part in “Leaving the World a little better than we found it and having a blast doing it”… This is a T-Shirt event so we hope to see a great turn-out for this worthwhile cause!

As always there are Great Items at the Fins To The Left Store for sale– If you missed the meeting you missed a great sale on T-shirts and Sweatshirts! These were going for $5.00 and $10.00 each!! Be sure to attend our next meeting as the 2006 concert T-shirts will be available at a bargain price!

  

 

Dorothy presented our “oPHicial” MOTM/Concert T-shirts and distributed them to the Parrot Heads who ordered them! What a great shirt! J-Bird drew up a fantastic design! Let’s all wear them proudly!

As usual we had a fantastic Raffle! There were many unique and interesting items as prizes including a hand-painted sign, dolphin accoutrements, a Hawaiian shirt, Corona Gear, Candles, Florida Aquarium Tickets, A hand-made watch, and a Live from Key West CD!!! , ….. and lots more cool stuff and plenty of it! If you missed the meeting you missed out on the chance to win some of these great items!!

Remember that when you participate in the raffle the proceeds go towards our charitable donations so get involved and help make a difference!

John Graham gave us a brief update on the Lido Key Reef Project that is being undertaken by the Sarasota Parrot Head Club. The project is taking place on Thursday and Friday, October 18th and 19th. If you are interested in helping out with topside activities or as divers please contact John at skyrider43 at aol.com to get the current information.
