Yeoman
(Secretary) Candidate Campaign Statements
(Candidates listed in
alphabetical order.)
Susan
Bond:
As a member of TBPHC
since May of 2012, I have had some great times with what I hope to be lifelong
friends. Since fall of last year I
have been working in the club store where I have enjoyed meeting even more new
friends. I love our motto
of Party with a purpose, and volunteering with the TBPHC has been both fun and
rewarding.
I served as Secretary
on the State Board of a Christian Youth Program, so I understand the importance
of accurate and timely information, as well as the need to work within the laws
of a charter. I hope to serve the
club in any way that I can so that this club can thrive and contribute to its
members and the community.
Richard (Dick)
Dobkins:
Because
the office of Secretary needs to be more disciplined than adventurous, more
detailed than gross, more meticulous than broad, more sensitive than pensive,
more caring than bold, more focused than overseeing and more sincere than
questioning, women, through social custom and practice, have been more likely to
hold the position. Nevertheless the times are changing, and as women are taking
up traditional male leadership roles, they are no longer automatically presumed
to be the better option for the job of an efficient
Secretary.
In
placing my name, reputation, and masculinity, in candidacy for the Secretary of
the Tampa Bay Parrot Head Club, I bring to the table years of experience, which
involve extensive record keeping and communications. In the world of
non-flowered shirts, I successfully attained an MBA in Finance and served as
President of a Commercial Bank, before starting my own Company, which I managed
for 17 years.
My
wife Laura and I have been Parrot Heads since 2007, and we are proud to be
members of Sarasota Bay, Charlotte Harbor, and Key West Clubs, as well as Tampa.
I have served in the past as a Parrot Head board member for several years,
including Vice President of the Sarasota Bay Parrot Head Club. I have attended
many leadership events and enjoy valuable Parrot Head fellowship with members
throughout Florida. I have
coordinated Parrot Head fund raising, humanitarian, and social events of all
kinds.
I
have played an active role in the Music on the Bay Steering Committee since its
inception. I remain in charge of the event’s logistics (set up) as well as its
Mini Mart.
I
understand the need of strong leadership in a Social/Civic organization such as
ours, but I also place great importance on membership involvement. “He who
thinks he leads, but has no followers, is only taking a walk” .A Board,
especially a Board with a small number of fiduciary officers like TBPHC, needs
the support of the entire membership to insure the party continues, and to
accomplish our goal of making this world a little better place than we found it.
Besides
providing service to the Board in the way of accurate recordkeeping, I pledge if
elected, to serve the entire membership by providing accountability through Club
communications and all contractual matters of the organization. My past
experience and my desire to always do the very best job possible, make me
uniquely qualified to be your Secretary, and I will appreciate your
support.

Shane
Wright:
For those of you who
do not know me, I am Shane "Big Sexy" Wright. I have been a loyal member for 7
years. I am married to Cindy "Lou Who" Kendall-Wright, and we live in the Palm
Harbor area.
We moved here from Greenwood Indiana in 2007. The Parrot
heads were the first group we actively joined! Through thick and thin, better or
worse, the Tampa Bay Parrot heads are our Family.
I currently work and
manage the warehouse for Tri-Ed distribution. I am in charge of 1 other
gentlemen and responsible for keeping tabs on 3 million dollars of products. I
have thrown my hat into the ring to be the next secretary of the Tampa Bay
Parrot head club because I feel that I have great tracking and note taking
ability. I am a firm believer that everything is documented and available for
any and all to see.
I have worked for the
last three years on the Music on The Bay committee, working very hard to raise
money for the Shriners. I am an
avid volunteer for the club, even when I am not called on.
As your secretary I
will be available to you for any concerns and ideas you may have.
I will fight and strive to keep all information, open and available to
you, the members. I will be your
very loud voice to the board.
Thank you for your
time. Feel free to stop me anytime
and get to know me! I am always
easy to find, just listen to the music…..
Purser
(Treasurer) / Jennifer O’Connor
Greetings
to my Tampa Bay Parrot Head Friends and Family.
First
and foremost, please allow me to express my gratitude to such a wonderful group
of people and to share with you my excitement regarding my decision to run for
office of the greatest club in the world.
My
name is Jennifer O’Connor and I have been a member of the Tampa Bay Parrot Head
Club for more than 11 years. A few
years ago, I served as Yeoman on the TBPH Board, under Captain Harry, and
enjoyed every minute of it. Now,
I’m ready to serve again and give back to the club who has given so graciously
to me over the years with family, friendship, and caring.
When
I made the decision to run for the Board this time, I decided I could really and
truly provide the most value to this club serving as their
Treasurer/Purser. I currently hold
an under graduate degree in Accounting and a Master’s Degree in Finance. I have been professionally active in
the accounting/finance field for almost 30 years, and currently hold the
position of Finance Director with PricewaterhouseCoopers, where I have worked
since arriving in Tampa over 14 years ago.
I
am professionally responsible, trustworthy, and capable of serving this club as
Treasurer. I have held the office
of Treasurer over the years with other organizations, including homeowners
associations, school PTA’s, and sports clubs. I know what is required of this office
and am fully willing and prepared to fulfill the duties and
responsibilities.
If
elected, I will fulfill the duties and responsibilities to the best of my
ability and, as well, will collaborate with the rest of the Board to ensure all
decisions are made with the best interests of the club in mind.
I look forward to this election and hope you will find me a desirable
candidate and vote for me in the upcoming election.
Thank
you from the bottom of my heart for your attention this evening.
Bless all of you and please drive home safely.
First
Mate (Vice President) / Joyce Cavaliere:
As far as my
professional background goes, I have been a Registered Nurse in Tampa for 28
years, and in the role as Relief Charge Nurse. In school, I served as Vice President
of my class, and on different committees.
I am honest and dependable.
I am detail oriented and organized, somewhat of a
perfectionist.
I am a key member of
the Tampa Bay Parrot head Club, which I joined in October 1997.
During that time I have volunteered when called upon, whether it be
picking up garbage to keep our beaches clean (at times at Team Captain), pouring
beer or cleaning up during Wazoo and Zoofari at Lowry Park Zoo, decorating and
cleaning up for our Birthday and Christmas parties, and helping out at Jimmy
Buffett concerts. I have worked at
the Membership table for our club.
Throughout the years, I have been involved with club events, signing
members up and helping out at the various events.
For years, I sold raffle tickets, then I was in charge of our
raffle. I have worked the
Registration table and sold raffle tickets at Music On The Bay.
I am currently serving as Member at Large.
I believe I would be
the best candidate for the First Mate of the Tampa Bay Parrot heads since I have
been a member in the club for going on 17 years, and also based on my
involvement in so many aspects and roles in the club.
I have made old friends, and continue to make new ones.
I love that we are able to support the many charities along the way, and
have a blast doing it! I have and
will continue to dedicate my time and effort in to making our club to be the
very best!
Thank
you!
Hellooooooooooooooooooo
Tampa Bay Parrot Heads!
What
time is it???
It’s
Election time!
I
have served as your President for the past 2 years and I have had a blast doing
it! As a club, we’ve grown together and have made changes along the way.
However, the most important thing that we have accomplished together is the
continuity of living our motto, “Let’s leave the world a little better than we
found it…and have a blast doing it”! Through YOU and your generous hearts, we
have raised money for our environmental charities and have championed drives for
the troops and children. Our membership has grown and we continue to recruit and
add people that “party with a purpose”!
I’m
not good a tooting my own horn, but I can tell you that I have the heart of the
club, remain passionate about the way the club is heading and am the woman
behind the curtain. We’ve had ups and downs over the past few years, but we work
through them together. I am very involved in all of the club activities and
attend all events. This allows our members to have constant access to me and
have the ability to voice any concerns that they have. I am a good listener and
will always get you an answer or resolution.
Although
we have had changes in the past few years, the important things remain the
same..

I
have been a member of Tampa Bay Parrot Head Club in Paradise, Inc. since 2000.
For those that don’t know a lot about my past, I’d like to share it with you. I
began as part of the Welcome Court, caught the eye of the Fruitcake Board and
was asked to join the Board as Chief Officer of Bounty (working under and with
the Purser), Chief Officer of Parties and Events, Chief Officer of Operations
(supervising Membership, Fins to da Left store and Raffle), 1st Mate
and Lovely Lady. As you can see, I have been involved and continue to want to
stay active.
Although I’m not a “vintage parrot head”, I’ve been around a long time. I feel that I will benefit TBPH as your President for the next 2 years and appreciate your vote!
FINS UP!!!!
