Subject: [MCOH-EH] Needle sticks in the operating room
Most of the needle sticks at our facility occurs in the operating room. I am looking for teaching material to do education. Problem is most of the needle sticks is
due to carelessness when more than one set of hands is in the surgical space. The only solution that I can find is to annouce when reaching into the surgical field such as (the tech should announce that he/she is reaching for suction) therefore making the
surgeon aware that another pair of hands is entering the surgical space. Does anyone have any ideas of how to reduce needle sticks in the operating room?
