CDC recently reviewed aerosolized HPV from laser/electrosurgical procedures and suggested environmental controls and personal protective equipment.  Please see:  http://c.ymcdn.com/sites/www.cste.org/resource/dynamic/forums/20131112_151658_22377.pdf   If there is a chance of aerosolizing HPV, appropriate respiratory protection should be required.  We currently do not provide HPV vaccine.

Subject: [MCOH-EH] HPV Vaccine for colorectal specialist?

I was approached by a colorectal specialist who performs a variety of procedures on patients with anorectal lesions suspected as infected or co-infected with HPV.  He requests the HPV vaccine for added prevention.  As I am new to MCOH, interested in knowing how other centers would have or have already approached this risk and/or request?  Thinking beyond this one request, should this be a recommended or required vaccine for other MC occupations?
