Our home health department has suffered numerous dog bites this year during the  home health visits to patients. To date we do not require our home health patients to  restrain their pets during the nurse’s visit but have had to deal with the bites as a result. Of course everyone feels their pet is safe and would never bite , however I think that the pet senses the owner is sick and goes into  protection mode and pets who have never bitten before ends up biting the nurse. Does anyone have a policy to cover home health visits and pets. Thanks
