Ours needs improvement.  We are currently conducting one positive TB exposure where the patient came in, coughing, and multiple tests in different areas were performed.  No PPE, nor mask on the patient.

Subject: [External Marketing Email] [MCOH-EH] Early identification of communicable infectious disease in emergency rooms

Please share if your organization has a successful  protocol for early identification of patients with communicable illnesses (such as tuberculosis or n. meningitis) upon entry into emergency departments for care to which staff flags the patient and places them into the appropriate isolation at the start of their encounter? We are trying to reduce the number of emergency staff potential exposures.

Thank you.
