We do not do physicals except in specific jobs that fall under regulatory requirements (flight crew, drivers, police, child  care workers, etc.) For most healthcare workers there is no physical, just review of infectious disease immunity/screening/vaccinations per medical center policy, and a clearance for N95 respirator use. We do this at orientation events.

Subject: Re: [MCOH-EH] pre-placement process

Hello all

As with many of our health care systems, we are asked to use resources wisely. I am interested in what you EHS does for pre-placement evaluations. We have traditionally had NP’s do the exams. We have the RN;s do the paper clearances for certain positions, with referral to the NP for red flags.

We are thinking about having RN’s perform the basic exam and defer to the NP or MD when there are questions.

Thanks,

Phil Adamo
