We required Tdap for new hires for Labor
& Delivery only. About 3 years ago, we had an outbreak in the area
(unvaccinated Amish family). Soon after that we made it mandatory for all
new hires and highly encouraged for current employees. Over two-thirds
of our then current employees (who had not received it before) volunteered
to get Tdap.
On the other hand flu vaccination is
not mandatory yet. We have a flu shot or mask policy in place. Since that
policy, our hospital flu vaccination rates have jumped from about 65% to
about 95%.

We offer it but do not require
it.
It is not a condition of
employment.

Do any of your institutions
require Tdap at time of hire as a condition of employment? HR is
revisiting some policies and would like to know.
Also, do you postpone N95
fit testing using Bitrex for pregnancy? We have a recent refusal
by a pregnant woman due to the knowledge that INGESTED saccharin crosses
the placenta. I cannot find any documentation about INHALED dilution
of saccharin and pregnancy.
Thanks for your responses.
