Melanie – Good point.  We had the same experience last season and since we are under LA County HD order: vaccine or mask in patient areas; there are not exemptions and those truly egg allergic must mask until it arrives after November 1 when the HD order kicks in each year.  I have not heard when it is expected to arrive this year but hopefully sooner.

We provide FluBlok. However we have not received any yet. So far each year it has been the last variety to be shipped, arriving in November or December.

 

We have to tell people with egg allergies to go ahead and request an exemption, as there is no guarantee we will have egg free vaccine before the “vaccination deadline.”

I am curious whether your employee health / occ med departments routinely provide egg free options during flu shot season to Ee's.  If not, what is your process:  Refer to Primary MD, or Allergist??  Our organization plan is to get the shot or mask the entire flu season.
