We require all employees to have a flu shot.

They can exempt for the following reasons:
Valid religious exemption which requires a letter from their religious leader
Valid Medical exemption: completed by a health care provider. Valid reasons are: severe allergy to eggs (not rash), Guillain - Barre' Syndrome

We do not require employees to wear masks because they did not get a flu shot. We do ask visitors and employees to wear a mask if they have cold symptoms, are coughing or are running a temp. We have stations set out through the hospital with masks and hand sanitizer no touch dispensers.

We start giving flu vaccines 10/1 but hit the high risk units by going to their department: ED, ICU, Mother/Baby Labor and delivery. We do not have a peds unit.

The employee has until 12/28 to get this completed.

Disciplinary action is a step process:
counseling
verbal warning
written warning
final written warning
termination.

My hospital is making the transition to mandatory flu vaccination. Would anyone be willing to share your policy for disciplinary action and how you enforce it, especially for physicians? Also, do you require mask compliance for those who are not immunized? Do you require vaccination by Dec. 1st, Dec. 15th, Jan 1st?
