Dear friends of More Light Presbyterians,

Here at MLP, we often get asked "other than joining MLP as an 
individual, what can I do to help the Presbyterian LGBT equality 
movement?"  You asked, and we listened.

Today, we're asking you to take action to support More Light 
Presbyterians by hosting a *More Light house party* on Saturday October 
9 or Sunday October 10, as part of /Coming Out for More Light/ weekend,

Opponents of LGBT equality within the PCUSA funnel millions of dollars a 
year into their anti-gay organizations, yet MLP and friends still came 
within four votes of eliminating the anti-gay "authoritative 
interpretation" adopted by the Presbyterian General Assembly in 1978.  
With your help, we can win a major victory for LGBT equality at the next 
General Assembly... and the groundwork to build to that major victory 
starts right now.

On October 9 and 10, More Light Presbyterians supporters throughout the 
country will hold house parties and join together on a national 
conference call, featuring an interactive conversation with More Light 
leaders and MLP field organizer Michael Adee.  The parties and the calls 
will strengthen our solidarity as a movement, help grow MLP's 
membership, and increase the financial strength of MLP to allow us to 
work even harder for your rights.

House parties are easy, fun, and a great way to support the More Light 
movement. Plus, MLP helps with your house party in several ways:

    * We'll list your party on our web site and invite MLP supporters to
      sign up online. (You also have the option to hold an unlisted
      "private" party.)
    * Our detailed More Light house party guide is available to help you
      host a great party.
    * We're arranging for "house party 101" training conference calls in
      August and September, featuring past MLP house party hosts
      answering your questions.
    * We provide the content: house party hosts will show the interview
      with MLP field organizer Michael Adee from our first Hearts &
      Minds DVD or VHS tape, and all house parties get to participate in
      the national conference call.

House parties should start at 7:00 PM eastern time (4 PM pacific) on 
Saturday Oct. 9, and 5:00 PM eastern time (2 PM pacific) on Sunday Oct. 
10, so that you and your guests can join the national More Light 
conference call that starts one hour later.

Inviting friends, family, and co-workers who care about 
gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender equality is a great way to get them 
involved, to show that this is an issue that's important to you, and to 
take action to support equality and fairness in America.

Together, we can change the Presbyterian Church for the better... and we 
will!
