National MLP Leadership Conference: May 20-22 in Kansas City

We've just fixed the dates for a special activist and leadership
training event, the National MLP Leadership Conference, which will be
held from Friday May 20 through Sunday May 22 in Kansas City, Missouri.
This 3-day event will be different from traditional MLP conferences, in
that there will be a much heavier focus on nuts-and-bolts skill
development and training for MLP grassroots leaders and activists. The
conference program leads and facilitators are Eunice and Dick Poethig,
long-time More Light supporters and skilled social justice workers.

Shower of Stoles in the news

The Shower of Stoles Project <http://www.showerofstoles.org/>, an
ecumenical ministry run by MLP friends and allies Martha Juillerat and
Tammy Lindahl, is covered in a feature article
<http://www.columbiamissourian.com/news/story.php?ID=11808> in the
Missourian, a local paper in Columbia, MO. From the article:

"The Shower of Stoles Project is a collection of more than 1,000
liturgical stoles... The project started in 1995 with a collection of 80
stoles sent in by friends and colleagues of Martha Juillerat and her
partner, Tammy Lindahl. Juillerat had asked for the stoles at the annual
meeting of the Presbyterians for Lesbian and Gay Concerns. They were to
be hung in a Kansas City church when Juillerat relinquished her position
as an ordained minister after publicly acknowledging her sexual
orientation... The stoles kept coming and grew into a collection that is
displayed about 150 times a year."

Presbyterians for Lesbian and Gay Concerns (PLGC) is, of course, the
pre-1999 name of More Light Presbyterians.

Victory 2006 Update: New MLP Partner Groups Established

Since MLP's formal announcement of the Victory 2006 campaign
<http://www.mlp.org/article.php?story=20041004133741234> in September of
last year, MLP board and staff have been hard at work building up the
grassroots foundations of the campaign. This month we're kicking off the
Victory 2006 Partnership Program, an initiative for select More Light
local groups which brings More Light committees, chapters, and other
local MLP groups into a stronger working relationship with the MLP board
of directors and with each other. The Partnership Program provides a way
for More Light supporters to organize and coordinate major education and
advocacy events in many Presbyteries at the same time. *Read more...
