Dear friends of More Light Presbyterians,

General Assembly is only 10 months away, and the time to organize and
mobilize is now. We'd like to invite you to participate in our second
annual /Coming Out for More Light/ weekend by hosting a *Prelude to
Victory More Light house party* on Saturday October 8 or Sunday October
9. It's an opportunity to have fun, invite your friends to learn about
More Light Presbyterians, raise funds to support MLP, and join a
national house party conference call to get the latest update on our
work to bring full equality to the PCUSA.

Opponents of LGBT equality within the PCUSA spend tremendous amounts of
time and money funding organizations that seek to sustain
institutionalized discrimination, yet in 2004 MLP and friends still came
within four votes of eliminating the anti-gay "authoritative
interpretation" adopted by Presbyterian General Assembly nearly 30 years
ago. In 2006, we're aiming for victory for the whole church: victory
for the Gospel, victory for peace, unity and purity, victory over
discrimination, and a legislative victory over anti-LGBT Presbyterian
rules. But to reach our goal, we need your help.

On October 8 and 9, More Light Presbyterians supporters throughout the
country will hold house parties, ask their guests to join MLP in
financial support, and join together on a national conference call
featuring an interactive conversation with More Light leaders and MLP
field organizer Michael Adee. The parties and the calls will strengthen
our solidarity as a movement, help grow MLP's membership, and increase
the financial strength of MLP to allow us to keep up the national push
for full equality. House parties are easy, fun, and a great way to
support the More Light movement. Plus, MLP can help you with your house
party in several ways:

    * We'll list your party on our web site and invite MLP supporters to
contact you electronically. (You also have the option to hold an
      unlisted "private" party.)
    * Our detailed More Light house party guide is available to help you
      host a great party.
    * We'll be setting up "house party 101" training conference calls in
August and September, to answer all your questions and give you
the details on how to organize a house party, from start to finish.
    * We provide the content: house parties have the opportunity to show
one of the interviews from our new /MLP special release DVD/,
which includes interviews with More Light field organizer Michael
Adee and with MLP board member Heather Reichgott. All house
parties also get to participate in the national conference call,
which will be an interactive event where you get to participate
      and ask questions.

Can you host a party on Saturday October 8 or Sunday October 9? Sign up
now at:

House parties should start at 7:00 PM eastern time (4 PM pacific) on
Saturday, and 5:00 PM eastern time (2 PM pacific) on Sunday, so that you
and your guests can join the national More Light conference call that
starts one hour later.

Inviting friends, family, and co-workers who care about
lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender equality is a great way to get them
involved, to show that this is an issue that's important to you, and to
take action to support equality and fairness in America.

Together, we can change the Presbyterian Church for the better... and we
will!

Thank you for all of your support.

Sincerely,
Donna Riley and Erin Swenson
