preparation, our national field organizer Michael Adee will be using his
January 2007 sabbattical to climb the 19,340 feet of Mt. Kilimanjaro
(Tanzania, Africa) -- and he's chosen to undertake the climb as a
benefit fundraiser for More Light Presbyterians. The kickoff
announcement for "Ain't No Mountain High Enough", MLP's Kilimanjaro
benefit climb, follows this note.
This Christmas season, we're also again offering a popular giving
opportunity: the chance to make a donation to MLP in the name of your
partner, spouse, a friend, member of your family or your pastor as a way
to support the witness, advocacy, outreach and ministries of More Light
Presbyterians.

Michael J. Adee is climbing the world's tallest free-standing mountain,
Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa as a benefit to raise money for LGBT
Equality in the Presbyterian Church (USA) through More Light Presbyterians.
Taking the Motown signature song of the Supremes, "Ain't No Mountain
High Enough," as his theme, Michael has been training for this mountain
climbing expedition for more than 2 years.
"As an out gay Christian and activist working for LGBT equality in the
Presbyterian Church, there are plenty of mountains and valleys. Justice
seems so close, at times just over the horizon," says Michael.
Michael serves as the National Field Organizer for More Light
Presbyterians and has done so since May, 1999. He decided to use his
sabbatical month for two purposes: to fulfill a life-long dream of
climbing Kilimanjaro and to raise money for a cause close to his heart
and faith, LGBT Equality through More Light Presbyterians.
100% of the donations given to this special "Ain't No Mountain High
Enough" Mount Kilimanjaro Benefit Climb for MLP will go directly to fund
field outreach to Presbyterian colleges, seminaries and our new
RainbowCorps mission service initiative.
No donations will be applied to the expense of the Kilimanjaro trip
itself, Michael is paying for the entire trip. MLP is a 501(c)3
national non-profit religious education organization, your donations are
tax-deductible to the extent of the law.
"Growing up gay in a church and culture that did not encourage me to be
who God had created me to be felt like I was always going uphill,
against the grain like climbing a mountain," says Michael.
Michael continues: "For me, taking on the world's tallest free-standing
mountain, Kilimanjaro, parallels the uphill climb LGBT persons and our
families face as we choose to listen the voice and heart of God calling
us to be who God has created us to be and love... and ignore the false
witness of prejudice and injustice.
For me, for all my sisters and brothers out there who are lesbian, gay,
bisexual, transgender, our parents, families and friends .... may we
remember that there "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" for us."
So, as Michael has been training for 2 years and will climb to 19,340
feet to ascend to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro, please give generously
