[CASL-L] Fall 2012 Library Technical Assistant Courses at Capital Community College

Dear Colleagues,
For the Fall 2012 semester, Capital Community College, located in Hartford, Connecticut is offering the following courses as part of its Library Technical Assistant Program. Courses can be taken for professional development as well as enrolling in the certificate or degree program. Detailed instructions concerning how to use the course schedule online are available on page 2 of the Fall 2012 online course schedule, which  is available at  http://www.capitalcc.edu/docs/Fall2012EnrollmentGuideWEB.pdf. This  schedule will tell when courses will meet.  There are still openings in the following courses.

Introduction to Library Public Services (LIB 101). Course begins Tuesday September 4. This course is only offered in Fall semesters . Course is listed in the online course search system under Library Technical Assistant.

Tuesday 7:05 pm-9:45 pm.
Instructor: Karen DeLoatch

This course prepares the student to work in public service areas, including circulation, interlibrary loan and reference service.

Introduction to Software Applications (CSA 105). This course was previously called Using Microcomputers CIS 105.  Course is listed in the online course search system under Computers-Applications.

Day and Time: Day, and evening sessions are offered.

This course teaches the use of microcomputers as an office productivity tool. It covers creating and editing word processing documents, spreadsheets and computerized visual presentations. Currently, the Microsoft Office software products Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are being taught in depth. Besides office productivity tools, this course covers file management using the Microsoft Windows operating system.

Classes began on Wednesday August 29 , 2012.  Returning students can register online. Extended registration hours are Tuesday September 4 from 9 am-6 pm.
