The mission of the American Association of School Librarians is to advocate

April is School Library Month
Get Ready to Celebrate!
April is School Library Month and the 2012 theme is "You belong @ your 
library®." AASL has several resources available for you to use as you prepare 
your celebration and invite the community into your school library! Visit 
www.ala.org/aasl/slm to:

	* Share School Library Month and National Library Week proclamation templates 
with your elected officials and invite them into your library. National Library 
Legislative Days are April 23 & 24.  What better time to show off your program 
to your local and state elected officials than during the month that celebrates 
it?
	* Announce your programs and events to your school community with a 
customizable School Library Month flyer template.
	* Decorate your library or library website with the "Ten Reasons You Belong at 
Your School Library" poster and web graphics available through the ALA online 
store.
	* View the first in a series of four on-demand webinars presented by Susan 
Kowalski on programming designed to bring stakeholders into your library.

events and resources!

Deadline for Student Video Contest Entries is March 29!
School libraries are no longer just places to go check out a book. They are the 
centers of the school where learning, research and collaboration happen, and 
technologies and information resources are available 24/7. Students are 
encouraged to submit videos via SchoolTube.com focusing on the great reasons to 
visit their school library.  Each video should visually illustrate why the 
school library is (either physically or virtually) the place to be.

Entries must be submitted to SchoolTube.com by March 29, 2012 by 11:59 P.M. CST 
to be eligible to win.  One winning video will be chosen from each grade level – 
elementary, middle, and high school - and the student will receive a $100 
Amazon.com gift card and $500 in books for their school library. For full
