Forty years after Joan Ganz Cooney's landmark study stimulated the creation of
Sesame Street, a new center devoted to accelerating children's learning in a
rapidly changing world was established.
The Joan Ganz Cooney Center at Sesame Workshop focuses on the new challenges
children face today, asking the 21st century equivalent of her original
question, "How can emerging media help children learn?"

Join the Cooney Center's Executive Director Michael Levine and Research
Consultant Jessica Millstone for a webinar hosted by EdWeb's Game-Based Learning
Community on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at 4 PM ET.

In "Put Down Your Pencils and Play: Using Digital Games Successfully in the
Classroom," we will take a look at the just-released findings of a year-long
research project, undertaken in collaboration with BrainPOP and with support
from the Gates Foundation, that investigates teachers' attitudes and beliefs on
game-based learning.

Michael Levine and Jessica Millstone will showcase the findings of this national
survey that was conducted with teachers who are currently integrating digital
games into their classes. Michael and Jessica also will share video case studies
of educators who have overcome a number of barriers (such as available
technology, pinpointing games, and outside perceptions) to integrate quality
digital games into their practice.

Join us on May 31, 2012 from 4-5 pm ET for the latest pulse on what teachers
today think about using digital games in the classroom.
