The Nutmeg Book Award is pleased to announce some new and exciting
changes!
The timeline of the Nutmeg Book Award is shifting to match the school
year instead of the calendar year. The new list will be announced to
CASL & CLA members on February 14th and to the public on May 1st; just
in time to kick off summer reading. Students will then read the nominees
throughout the summer and the following school year. Voting will take
place in April. With this change, students who are currently reading the
2013 nominees will have a few extra months to read before they have to
vote. Here is a breakdown of the new dates:
October 1st
Student & librarian selection committee applications are posted to

We are also proud to share that The Nutmeg Book Award is growing! As you
may know, 2014 will be the start of a third level to the Nutmeg Award.
We currently have the Intermediate Award for students in grades 4-6, the
Teen Award for students in grades 7-8, and in 2014 there will be the
High School Award for students in grades 9-12. Starting in 2015, there
will be a fourth level to the award for students in grades 2-4. With
these additions, The Nutmeg Book Award will be an important part of
literacy from elementary school right through high school graduation!
