[CASL-L] Clean version of the film "Glory"

Good afternoon everyone,
     The Social Studies coordinator for my school district wants to locate a clean copy of the film "Glory". Grade 7 Teachers in the middle school want to show the film to American History classes studying the Civil War. The film is rated "R" for language and a few violent scenes.
      I know that there have been copyright issues with companies that took feature films, edited them and resold them as clean versions.
      Does anyone know if sanctioned clean copies are available? The BOE told the principal at the middle school that it was not permissible for teachers to edit their own copies of the film for showing in the classroom.
      Has anyone else run into this situation? If so, how did you handle it?
