[CASL-L] HS Databases

Definitely not...I don't have the budget to justify that, and our usage of databases has just been hitting the ground, so I intend to simply direct our students to the new EBSCO products for their research needs. Also, I took advantage of the free webinars that EBSCO offers and I really like some of the features of iConn particularly OneSearch; my students like a single search interface anyway, so the new database vendor is a good fit for us.

I'm curious if people are going with Gale's Recovery Package. I've poked around in the Ebsco products but don't have much time by my lonesome here. Obviously, it would make the transition easier if my budget was unlimited.

Please share any experience and thoughts!

Thanks,

Sara

Besides iConn, we use Issues and Controversies from Facts on File. I also have their Issues and Controversies in American History. I encourage the use of our subscription to Encyclopedia Britannica as an alternate to Wikipedia that also gives a link to "the Web's Best Sources" on all of its topics. The expensive databases, the New York Times Historical Database and Ebsco's Literary Reference Center are essential to Junior research projects in Social Studies and English.

We are reviewing our databases. I was wondering what are your top two databases that are used by your students? Thanks for your input.
