[CASL-L] HS Databases

Hi Sara,

I did go with Gale's Recovery Package even though I'm quite excited about the expanded EBSCO products through our iConn affliation. I did so because some teachers had buit the Gale products into their lessons. Also, some students really like the Gale inContext products. Also, I just happened to have some frozen money released that allowed me to take advantage of the special pricing. Hopefully, this will give students and teachers a year to transition to iConn's EBSCO products without too much frustration, because I doubt that I will be able to renew the subscription for the following year.

Hope this helps.

Hi Sara,
Personally, I love EBSCO and I’m excited for the changeover. I’ve found their databases to be better, which is probably why colleges use them.

I'm curious if people are going with Gale's Recovery Package. I've poked around in the Ebsco products but don't have much time by my lonesome here. Obviously, it would make the transition easier if my budget was unlimited.

Please share any experience and thoughts!

Thanks,

Sara

Besides iConn, we use Issues and Controversies from Facts on File. I also have their Issues and Controversies in American History. I encourage the use of our subscription to Encyclopedia Britannica as an alternate to Wikipedia that also gives a link to “the Web’s Best Sources” on all of its topics. The expensive databases, the New York Times Historical Database and Ebsco’s Literary Reference Center are essential to Junior research projects in Social Studies and English.

We are reviewing our databases. I was wondering what are your top two databases that are used by your students? Thanks for your input.
