[CASL-L] Chromebooks in Schools

Our School has had LOANABLE Carts of Chromebooks in use this year. While this is not ONE ON ONE for the school, it allows a class to have one on one for a period of time. This new option has forced many teachers to change their expectations of always using Microsoft Office's POWERPOINT or WORD, which we do not have access to in our district, at this time, on the chromebooks (at one point we thought we were getting Office 365, but it hasn't happened yet).

The Library Media Specialist has a great opportunity, especially if your teachers are used to falling back on using WORD & PowerPoint. This is an opportunity to show the teachers and students PREZI and ANIMOTO or other websites that can be their PROJECT PRESENTATION PLATFORMS and use Google or other online sites for Word Processing or Classroom Blog sites. Schoology is the preferred teacher and class site one of several teachers who has been using a CHROMEBOOK all year.

And the Library Website or WIKISPACE PAGES for SUBJECT GUIDES are always a great quickly editable jumping off point for teachers and students who are doing special topics.
