The only exception is an extremely narrow use:  if you have a kid who is legally visually impaired and can't read the book, you can do it for that kid only.  I generally hesitate to bring this up in a larger discussion because it gets misinterpreted and misused.

You can't record your own audiobooks.  Unless they are in the public domain, the publisher or author holds the rights to creating audio versions of the texts.  I don't know who created the YouTube channel you linked to or what authority they have - but my suspicion is that it is not a legal source of audio books.  It requires more investigation to be sure.


Convincing teachers of that is a whole other story.

Also, iConn.org has a large selection of audio books available... you could also include these in your resources...
