[CASL-L] Weeding and book donation

Has anyone ever encountered this situation? When I came to my library, I was told that the previous librarian was not allowed to remove weeded materials from the library because they were originally obtained through a grant. So there is a corner of the library that has weeded materials piled up because of the principal's request. I wish I could put them where most of them belong- in the trash!

Subject: [CASL-L] Weeding and book donation
I am doing a big weed of my collection does anyone know of places that take large scale donated books? I would donate some to the local libraries book sale but many are not even fit for that, either condition wise or being older irrelevant material. Also does anyone know a place that buys weeded books in bulk, technically that is what the first preference is by the powers above.
