> While it is tempting to immediately hand students iPads, cell phones, Nooks or other mobile devices, it is vital that children are properly introduced to these devices before ever touching them.

We will cover management and safety matters for introducing and using the devices for a 1:1 or “centers” approach. Additionally, both novice and expert teachers tend to struggle with locating effective apps and websites to enhance the learning goals in their classrooms.  We’ll devote the second part of this session to strategies for effectively locating apps and websites for mobile devices and we’ll include how to evaluate these resources to make that sure that they are meeting the needs of your learners.

Liz has authored Toys to Tools: Connecting Student Cell Phones to Education, Cell Phones in the Classroom: A Practical Guide for the K-12 Educator, and the upcoming Unleash the Learning Power of Your Child's Cell Phone.
