I am looking for some helpful guidance on the topic of library scheduling, particularly at the elementary level. I am currently at a middle school that serves 6-8 graders an enjoy a flexible schedule to allow collaboration with teachers. For the upcoming school year I will be going down to our intermediate school, which serves grades 3-5 and is a fixed schedule.

I have been speaking with the current librarian and the schedule that is currently in place is not the most desirable and along with assigned duties there is no time for library management or shelving time. There is no library aide to help, so therefore the librarian does a solo - as I am sure many of you all do! Here is the current schedule... Fixed with each grade/class (23 total) going to the library for a 45-minute class once a week and 15-minute book exchange once a week

I was hoping that some of you elementary librarians would be wiling to share your schedules that work well or offer some suggestions. I will be meeting with the building principal soon and would like to go with some suggestions to make the schedule more workable.

Any guidance, thoughts, suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!
