FYI -- Next Saturday, Nov. 8th, we will hold our 2nd TEDx in the Re-tinkering Libraries series. This one will focus on economic development in various disciplines -- and it is our job to interpret how the changes in those areas will impact libraries.
TEDxWestportLibrary
Experts will address big ideas in their disciplines that deal with economic development. These ideas will, in turn, likely have an impact on libraries, and the audience can determine for themselves which aspects of each speaker's talk they think will influence the evolution of libraries. Presenters include: financial columnist Dan Gross on economic tools, entrepreneur Janis Collins on accelerating new businesses, marathoner Jean-Paul Desrosiers, Jr. on moving your boundaries, educator Kerstin Rao on preparing students to innovate their own future and graphic artist Miggs Burroughs on the economics of art. The day will be moderated by Dianne Wildman, former Cablevision editorial director. Register online. $15 fee includes refreshments.
TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.
The event will also showcase two pre-recorded TED talks.
The conference will be streamed live. Videos for each speaker will be uploaded to the TEDx site. This independent TEDx event is operated under license from TED.
