[CASL-L] Library Helpers

I just wanted to take a quick survey.  We are a middle school, grades 5-8.
We have many student library helpers.
We have had some issues with books being put back incorrectly, and some
checkout issues. I personally love having them feel a part of their
library, but not everyone agrees with me. I just had them take a little
"certification" quiz through the Univ of Texas to check their shelving
skills. Most kids persevered and stayed on.
Just curious, how many of you have library helpers at the middle school
level, and what are their responsibilities?
