[CASL-L] Get a charge out of this?

Hi Matt and everyone,

I agree, Students this year appreciate and use charging areas, mostly responsibly.

I created my own portable charging cart with a set of (3) POWER ADD chargers (http://www.ipoweradd.com/chargers-and-adapters_c37) which our business office ordered for me off of amazon.

This gave us a portable cart which could be wheeled out or locked up, with 15 ports to charge USB Chargeable devices, tablets, SmartPhones, Kindles, IPADS, etc... we picked up some inexpensive ($ 3 to $10) charging cables for both old and new IPAD, IPod and IPhone charging adapters (2 of each), then we had a batch of USB chargers from our set of KINDLES, so we were all set for only a small amount.

NOTE: We did have a set of earbuds disappear, so we tell them to keep their accessories with them. No phones or devices have disappeared. We do keep the charging cart within sight of the Circulation desk area but let students know it is their responsibility to keep an eye on their devices.

I also keep one of these chargers at our circulation desk for emergencies or staff items that need monitoring.

And we provided three to our English Department so they could keep their set of 30 Kindles charged. (They had their own USB charging cables that came with their Kindles).

I have also picked up a few extra cables at the store "5 BELOW" or other discount stores when I am in a fix and need another cable on short notice.

Subject: [CASL-L] Get a charge out of this?

Hello All:

Forgive the commercial intrusion:

I just bought three universal chargers for my library and this is the first time in 5 years I have seen students excited and appreciative about a purchase I made.

I got them here:

https://chargetech.com/product/universal-mobile-phone-charger-v10/

But I know there are plenty of other options out there.

I get no kick-backs from the company! I just thought I’d let people know what students are going crazy over. Now if I can just get them reading…

Matt
