Here's a preview of continuing education workshops and webinars the CT State Library will be offering in March:


Monday, March 2:

All libraries that plan to apply for an LSTA grant are REQUIRED to attend a one-hour session covering application instructions, regulations, and fiscal management. It is recommended that the person writing the application and the person managing the project attend.

This 3-hour workshop, led by cataloging consultant Dodie Gaudet, chronicles RDA's development, the thought process behind its structure, how it works, its differences from and similarities to AACR2, and where to look for more information.

In this half day workshop, learn about new nonfiction titles for children Kindergarten to grade 8 and discover ways to incorporate games and technology into nonfiction book talks.

Prezi is a virtual whiteboard that transforms presentation from monologues into conversations. In this 1 hour webinar, we will demonstrate the different features of Prezi, from the Desktop app, to the web-based service.

Instructors Rebecca Miller, Carolyn Meier, and Heather Moorefield-Lang will explore apps and mobile sites for managing projects, organizing PDFs and other resources, and conducting research. This will be an interactive session, so please come prepared with questions and to share best tips and tricks for using technology to stay organized and work smarter.

Setting the stage for a statewide event, the Division of Library Development is bringing the dialogue first to Connecticut Libraries. We want to hear how your library, your community, and your local policy makers are "rising to the challenge" to re-envision library service in your community.
