Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities:

The candidate selected for this position will teach graduate level courses related to School Library Media Specialist certification and the Master in Information and Library Science degree program, coordinate the School Library Media Specialist program, actively engage in research and scholarship and participate in curriculum and program development.  All faculty at SCSU share in academic advising and participate in department/university service.

Required Qualifications:

  *   Earned doctorate or be ABD in Library and Information Science or a related field. If ABD, candidate must have earned doctorate by the end of the first year of appointment.
  *   Hold or be eligible for School Library Media Specialist certification
  *   Record of, or strong potential for, research and scholarly activity
  *   Experience as School Library Media Specialist or equivalent experience
  *   Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  *   Hold an MLS, MLIS or comparable earned degree

  *   Experience teaching graduate level courses
  *   Experience coordinating or advising in a state certification program

  *   Extensive knowledge about and/or experience with accreditation by professional organizations
  *   Experience in supervising, observing and evaluating school library media specialists or other educational personnel
