*CONNECTICUT'S KID GOVERNOR:*

*A statewide pilot program created by Connecticut's Old State House*

This fall, Connecticut 5th graders will participate in a statewide election
of our state's first Kid Governor. Through in-class lessons designed by the
education team at Connecticut's Old State House and an election, students
will learn about our government, how it works and the importance of civic
engagement...all from the comfort of the classroom!



All 5th grade classes in Connecticut are invited to participate in this
pilot program by nominating a student candidate from their school and
voting in the election - or just voting in the election!



Timed to coincide with Connecticut's local elections on November 3, 2015,
student candidates for Connecticut's Kid Governor will participate in
classwork resulting in a campaign video focused on a community issue that
they and their classmates care about. The video will outline a 3-point plan
designed to help other students take action on the issue. Fifth graders
statewide will then view and analyze the videos during Election Week
(November 2-6) as they prepare to cast their votes for Connecticut's first
Kid Governor!
