[CASL-L] SeeSaw app

I use the SeeSaw app with the groups of second grade children that visit the library to do independent research. It's a great way to share with teachers and parents the progress the children are making in learning about things they want to know more about. Also, a kindergarten teacher uses it to record the children reading. She told me that parents really appreciate hearing their children read when the file is shared with them, and it's a great way to document how much the children have grown as readers.Honestly, you can't go wrong with this app. Maureen SchlosserLibrary Media SpecialistColchester Elementary SchoolColchester, CT

Hi Torrie,
It has been purchased for our entire district to us K-5 and use various across the district, but I have seen and heard some positive things. We were trained in November and I am looking to use it in the library soon, but haven't as of yet so I can't speak to it first hand. Do you have iPads? I think having extensive access to those makes it even easier.

Hello, My principal is interested in me introducing the SeeSaw app to teachers.  It is a free, online learning journal where students can upload their work into a portfolio using a QR code and it gets shared with the teacher and then to their parents via email after each submission.  Students can upload a link, picture, explain a project or new learning with voice recordings, etc.  A great way to share your work without passing home tons of papers, integrating technology and meet listening and speaking standards.  It makes a portfolio you can share at conferences and gives families great talking points about student work that they view via email.  Are any of your schools using SeeSaw with success?  Any feedback, positive or negative, to share before I present this to all staff?  I started by mentioning this to one teacher per grade level to ask if they’d like to pilot it with one student in their classes with my support.  The overall response I got was this seems like “one more thing to do.”  Therefore, I thought I’d start with my own 2 children (grades K and 2) as a test, but have never used it.    Worried my presentation may be a flop if that’s the overall feeling so would love some motivation from my peers! FYI, I’ll be starting this in my K-2 school first but grades 3-5 will also get a chance to try it.  Thanks! Torrie PhillipsK-5 Library Media SpecialistCoventry Public Schoolstphilllips at coventryct.org This e-mail and any accompanying attachments are confidential.
