We use Virtual High School to offer online courses to our students. Our relationship with Virtual High School has been very seamless and successful. At this time, we only have 25 seats per semester. This year, I have 8 students taking AP classes. The AP classes take up 2 seats per year. The AP students have taken AP Chemistry, Art History, Computer Science, AP Spanish Language and Culture and more. The online courses expand our course offerings at Shelton High School. This is the fourth year we have offered online classes to our students. I am the site coordinator for VHS. I am paid a stipend for this responsibility. I do the registration and follow the students throughout the year. I also conference with parents and enter grades into Infinite Campus. Our students report to the library and work independently on computers in the library. They can also work at home. As part of our relationship with VHS, we have one teacher teaching one class for VHS. At this time the teacher is teaching Video Game Design. In the past, a teacher taught Poetry Writing. If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them. Joan

Do any high schools require students to take at least one online course as part of the graduation requirements?
Are any high schools offering/developing fully online or hybrid (part seat-time/part online) courses?
