Nonnewaug High School just went 1:1 this year with Chromebooks in all four grades.
Teachers can sign out:
* 2 carts of newer Dell laptops - 25 per cart - used by students to print (Chromebooks do not have printing capabilities here)
* 1 cart of 25 iPads
* 12 hardwired desktop computers in the LMC (teachers can reserve that part of the LMC)
* 3 laptop/projector combinations
* 2 large Bose speakers with various inputs - used for events needing sound amplification
Document cameras and SMART boards stay in the individual classrooms.
Additionally, the history department has their own Chromebook cart. The foreign language department has their own iPad cart. The English department has their own laptop cart.
Side note - The library has a Chromebook cart that used to be signed out by teachers. Since the release of Chromebooks this year, the library's Chromebook cart stays in the library. Teachers now send individual students down to sign out Chromebooks when they forget theirs at home. These also serve as loaner Chromebooks when kids' devices are sent out for repair.
Hope that helps!

Subject: [CASL-L] Laptops, Chrome Books, iPads
Hi,
I am collecting data on digital resources in the library/learning commons
at the HS level.
Would our HS folks mind sharing out what they have as far as number of
desktops, laptop carts, chrome books, iPads, etc...Are the library digital
resources in addition to labs, carts, etc... assigned to/used by
departments?
In our library, we currently have 30 desktops as well as carts of laptops
we sign out to teachers and students. These library resources are in
addition to other digital resources that our school has that are
department controlled. We have four labs (one shared by language and math;
the English dept. lab, general lab open for teachers to sign out (such as
science/social studies) and the last lab used solely by the business
dept.). The only other digital resources we have are a cart of laptops in
our Bridges program, cart of laptops in life skills, and a cart of iPads
in our resource dept. Lastly, we have numerous iPads that are assigned to
students who sign up for Honors and AP Level classes.
Are there any other devices such as document cameras, digital cameras, or
other types of devices that the library/learning commons has that are
signed out to teachers and/or students? (TVs, LCDs when Smartboards go
down...)
As always, any information any of you could provide on this would be very
much appreciated!!! :)
