> The University of Alabama School of Library and Information Studies seeks a visionary faculty member for a full-time, tenure-track position to begin January 1, 2017 or August 16, 2017 at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of School Library Media. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to lead our existing NCATE/CAEP and ALA accredited School Library Media program.

All faculty members are expected to work with diverse constituencies, teach in the core curriculum, maintain a vigorous research agenda, engage in interdisciplinary scholarship, and obtain external funding.

> Earned doctorate in Library and Information Science or Education from a regionally accredited university prior to the appointment date.
> ALA-accredited MLIS degree or significant graduate coursework in school library media
> At least two years, full-time teaching experience in K-12 schools as a school librarian. If teaching experience is more than 5 years old, the successful candidate will be required to spend 10 hours per semester in K-12 schools substituting in the school library or shadowing a highly effective school librarian
> Experience teaching diverse populations and a commitment to working with non-traditional students
> Preferred Requirements:
> Hold or have the ability to obtain an Alabama Class A teaching certificate in the area of school library media
> Active involvement in the American Association of School Librarians (AASL)
> Previous experience teaching and supervising graduate students in school library media
