[CASL-L] Thinking on Periodicals for an Intermediate School

Good morning, everyone!

Could I ask for some opinions/information on your plans for periodical
subscriptions in your libraries during these tight budget years (well, they
all seem to be tight budget years!)?

The purist librarian in me hates the idea of discontinuing periodicals that
should be loved and appreciated at this age (we are a 5/6 intermediate
school), but the kids just don't read them or check them out, despite focus
and challenges... have any of you decided to omit this material type from
your collections?  If so, did you simply add the $$ to your book materials,
or did you choose online periodicals instead?

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated... will post a synopses after your
responses!
