Invite Your Students to Apply for the
Eileen Kraus Scholarship

Eileen Kraus, a 2002 Inductee into the Connecticut Women's Hall of Fame, was the first woman to head a major regional financial institution, and was the founding Chairman of the Connecticut Women's Hall of Fame Board of Trustees. She believed in women leaders, and her legacy demonstrates her commitment to mentoring women and advancing the causes that most affect them. On behalf of the Kraus family, we are pleased to honor her legacy today with the Eileen Kraus Scholarship Fund, and help ensure that the next generation of women leaders are able to follow the trail she so capably blazed.

The Eileen Kraus Scholarship was established in 2016 in partnership with Kaman Corporation. The scholarship will award $5,000 each year to an outstanding Connecticut woman beginning her first year of college or university.

Completed application forms, high school transcripts, and a two-page essay are due by February 15, 2018. Meet the Inductee: Eileen Kraus
When Eileen Kraus entered the banking business in 1979, banking was on the cusp of being deregulated. Geographic, product, and pricing deregulation over the next several years fundamentally changed the industry leading to a more competitive environment. While Kraus joined the bank as a human resources executive, she had gained sales and marketing experience during the prior five years when she ran two of her own businesses. So when the bank's need for higher level marketing and selling capabilities became critical, Kraus was made head of marketing in 1983, and from there over the next decade she moved up the ladder, and in the early 1990s was named President of the bank.
