Speak up! Speak out! Public Speaking for Librarians

Whether presenting a budget to the finance committee, accepting an award from a local service club or talking at a staff meeting, good presentation skills help promote a professional image for the entire library. Yet speaking in front of an audience can be a terrifying experience. In fact, people fear public speaking more than they fear death! This workshop covers techniques for developing and presenting a speech, and includes tips and exercises for overcoming the nervousness associated with public speaking. Cataloger and veteran Toastmasters member Dodie Gaudet shares what she's learned about good presentation skills.
Recommended for library directors, department heads, library staff members who need to make effective presentations.
This is an in-person workshop.
